Eclectix Artist Interviews, Now On Medium

Hello dear art lovers, it's been awhile...

I've finally gotten around to uploading the Eclectix artist interviews from the bygone Eclectix website! Just finished with #48 - the dark and lovely artist Jasmine Worth...
Hope to finish transferring them all soon, as well as a few selected articles of merit from the old site.
So if you've been wishin' and hopin' to see these arty tidbits from the past, they are now on Medium, under the Eclectix Art profile.

Apologies for letting these gems languish in the internet vacuum for so long... enjoy the read now that they have been reincarnated! :)
And please check back to read the new ones...

Eclectix's Main Mama Site

- Greetings Dearest Followers -

In case you haven't noticed, we are not posting much here on the Eclectix Arts blog anymore, all our features will now be found at the main mama site – Eclectix.com. We have redesigned the site, consolidating all the Eclectix art news features, artist interviews and exhibition listings into one happy home.

We have gotten all our ducks in a row, so to speak...

There are new share/follow buttons for you to keep up with Eclectix and our re-designed exhibit listing pages make it easier to find the cool shows when you are out and about – on your mobile device. Even if you are out of the country we’ve got some selected venues for you – in English, on the Arts Calendar.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Eclectix Visits The Art Gallery of Ontario

Eclectix visited the AGO, Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto on our travels this summer and wanted to share some of our favorites. Really a place worth visiting with hours of great art viewing, much more than we can begin to share here. Many old school masterpieces by famous artists, some present day goodies and a lot of good local Canadian art, wildlife and scenic landscapes. Included are some detail shots of some of the pieces for closer examination of the images. Give yourself some time if you go!

Our favorite piece from the entire AGO was "Descent" by Fred Hagen, an incredible surreal narrative, (below). This one has to be seen in person!

When you are all tuckered out, ready to put your feet up and enjoy a pint, there is a wonderful little pub nearby, called "The Village Idiot". Good ale and munchies in tasteful vintage decor and open air comfortable setting.

Sneak Details and Preview Of "That Was Then, This is Now" at 111 MInna

Eclectix popped into 111 Minna Gallery this week and caught the new exhibit before it's opening reception tonight. One of our favorite artists, the esteemed Nathan Ota has all new works here in a collaboration. From the Minna site:
Tonight, 111 Minna Gallery proudly presents, “That Was Then, This Is Now.” The first major collaborative exhibition by Kelly Graval and Nathan Ota, aka RISK and COOZ, reunites these artists whose friendship began before they would respectfully become graffiti legends in the streets and revered artists in galleries and museums across the globe.

Took some photos of the works below - some are very cropped to show the fantastic detail and glow of the works. For all the complete images - go to the Minna site HERE.

Lori Nix and Her Little Places

Stumbled upon these great dioramas by Lori.
"Abandoned buildings in an apocalyptic world"...
From CoolHunting - She "photographs epic scenes of destruction and grandeur, natural wonders and glittering metropolises, magnificent architecture and heroic landscapes that all have one thing in common—they're all fake. Lori gives us a tour behind the artifice, showing us how she meticulously crafts the miniature sets using found objects and model-making materials."

Her site is here.

Preview Of Dean Fleming's New Art

Dean kindly sent me another sneak peek at a fantabulous new piece!
She is "The Huntress" and can be yours for a steal, only $275.
Beautiful.

True Goth Art, Kevin Llewellyn

If you have ever watched LA Ink and noticed that killer painting (and frame) in the background of the tattoo shop (like I did), it is The Virgin Mary by Kevin (above). At first glance I mistakenly thought it was a Shawn Barber - just love this piece! Kevin’s work is about as “goth” as it gets, nice and dark, in subject matter as well as lighting. Obviously an experienced and adept painter, his images are cool and creepy, moody portraiture with a classic old-master feel. Some have a overly pornographic element, with a cheap shock value - whereas subtle, more erotic touches would enhance his works more. Of couse, that is my humble opinion. He is a young artist and shows a lot of promise, featured here are some fantastic favorites. Kevin currently has a solo show at Wonderland Gallery in LA.
